Snake Hunting at Lake Washington - Glen Allen, MS

This doesn’t exactly make me home sick, but Lake Washington is where we used to hang out in the summer and where we learned to water ski.  I don’t know who the guys are in the video, but I never knew any locals that were quite so anxious to grab water moccasins and water snakes.

Hey Cal,

That seems crazy to me at first, then I think back to my younger days and I played with rattle snakes all the time, kept them in terrariums, and had a German Shepherd that killed 40 to 50 of them during his life and he did get bit once.

Things that are familiar are not scary so rattlers don’t bother me, but all I know about water moccasins is they are creepy, lol.

You know when you’re young you think you’re bullet proof. I wouldn’t pick up rattlers like I used to and I dang sure don’t want anything to do with water moccasins.

How bored do you have to be to go out and mess with snakes minding their own business? Although when I was younger, my brother and I caught all kinds of snakes, lizards, etc and kept them as pets…but we never messed with anything poisonous.

This is just plain scary. It takes a lot of skill to do that.

Can birds’ feet stick to metal perches ?

I’m all for getting out the water skis or a wakeboard to test out the waters of Lake Washington, but those guys in the video can have the snake catching all to themselves…thanks anyway!

Aren’t water mocassins deadly? As far as water sports go, catching ANY sort of water snake, poisonous or not, is just way out of the ball park as far as I’m concerned. Give me the joy of skimming across the water on a pair of skis or wakeboard any day. But thanks for the educational footage.
