Schimmels Fine Dining in Jackson MS!
Don’t go thinking I am getting off topic here. This is the MyGulfCoastBeachTeam.com Blog and much of our audience is located in Jackson Mississippi. They are a part of our Beach Team! Included in that number is my cousin Jay Schimmel, the proprietor and head chef of Schimmels.
Jay went to Ole Miss, played football, and earned an accounting degree that got him hired on with one of the super accounting firms, but as I recall that meant starting out auditing giant warehouses of inventory somewhere in huge metal buildings scattered around Dallas. I am sure a little light went off in Jay’s head and decided that he might as well be doing what he would enjoy, so he promptly signed up at the California Culinary School where he graduated first in his class. After a stint with Kimco and Real Restaurants in San Francisco he decided to head back to the deep South and establish Schimmels Fine Dining in downtown Jackson, MS. Stop by and try the Fried Oyster appetizers and tell him Cal sent you!
Serving the Blues too on Thursday nights!

It was 25 degrees here on the beach this morning – brrrr! Hot Gumbo is waiting though! I enjoyed your video conference today.
By the way Eric, Jay has some of that Harrodsburg, KY blood in his veins.
Yah, road trip or Jet trip for me. 10 degrees here.
Just checked out Schimmels’ website. Looks like they have a really great atmosphere. What is the best item on their menu?
Lex, I always go for steaks, but there are other great items too. The fried oysters are out of this world!
